Discuss the endocrine regulation of one sex hormone: from the tropic hormone to the final sex hormone

Solutions

Expert Solution

Endocrine regulations of one sex hormones: testosterone.

Trophic hormone: Gonadotrophin relasing hormone

Final sex hormone: testosterone.

From the hypothalamus, gonadotrophin relasing hormone secreted and it acts on the anterior pituitary,by their stimulation anterior pituitary produce two hormone namely follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone.

Follicle stimulating hormone acts on the sertoli cells and it produces inhibin and promote spermatogenesis.

Luteinizing hormone acts on the leydig cells and secrets testosterone. This testosterone act as a negative feedback and it produces negative effects to the hypothalamus and anterior pituitary, leads to decrease in the production of hormone gonadotrophin relasing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone.

Obesity in adult males is associated with lower levels of sex hormone. A study investigated a possible link between obesity and testosterone levels in adolescent males between the ages of 14 and 20 years. The study compared 25 obese adolescent males and 25 adolescent males with a healthy weight. Their plasma testosterone concentrations (in nanomoles per liter, nmol/l) are provided: Obese adolescent males 0.30 0.24 0.19 0.17 0.18 0.23 0.24 0.06 0.15 0.17 0.18 0.17 0.15 0.12 0.25 0.25 0.25...
