Q. What is the difference between productive time and nonproductive time?
i) Basically, the productive time is when employees are actually working physically whereas non-productive time is when employees are being given paid leave where they are not on duty such as holidays, sick leave, etc.
ii) Non-productive time or days are owned by the employees based on the employee-employer contract, but it is not the case in productive time.
iii) Employees produce income for business in case of productive time whereas employees don't produce income for business in case of non-productive business.
Q. What is the purpose of computing full-time equivalents (FTEs)?
FTE or Full-time equivalent indicates the workload of the total number of employees I.e. the total number of hours worked by an employee on a full-time basis. There are many purposes of an employer to use FTEs such as to determine the level of involvement of an employee in a project, benchmarking profits per employee, to track costs in an organization, etc.
