In a hospital, culture of a patient should be understood by a nurse to provide better services through medical practices.

Minority status means the set of people who are subordinate or nondominant due to their low population and lack power comparing to other ethnic groups. And, for people from this status, a nurse who can speak their language and understand their culture can provide better services and he or she should not show disrespect or discrimination. And, when it comes to culture, it is a form of habit followed as a large group for generations. A minority status can also have their own culture, and what is important for a nurse is that he or she should,

  • accept
  • aware about
  • communicate with

the patient, from any class or race that is major or minor, have equal rights to claim health care services from a hospital during illness.

So, there is no major difference between the terms minority status and culture because, the former one pertains to population in a region or country and the latter one is about practices followed by any population, with respect to religion, customs and beliefs etc,.
