Group projects are being used in online platform now-a-days to improve cognative learning among the students. It not only provide first hand knowledge how to work in a team in a better way but also provide practical experience of creative construction. In the present scenario collaborative group projects can be done online quite easily because of easy accessibility of technical experts. But to achieve the goal of using group projects in online platform having some major challenges. 1. different schedules & time zones. 2. secure file sharing. 3. different file formats 4. different computer applications. One of biggest challenges in the use of online tools for collaboration of group projects are the diversity of technology & distance of the group members. Some may be part-time & some may be full-time professionals. Some may be in time zones three to four hours apart. Arranging a mutually- available time for the group members to interact can be a difficult task. The most common online tools are e-mail, discussion forums, text messages, chat rooms, instant messaging & video conferencing tools like skype, blogs, wikis, go to meeting. These are good platform for sharing ideas but cannot be used to produce end results. To surpass difficulties like this the instructor should investigate appropriate tools & to use it uniformly by all team members without any difference. The instructor should ensure that every members are using the same tools & prevent difficult situations that can arise from incompatible applications. Any conflict that arise during the process of following should be resolve quickly without any delay as it can damage the unity of framework of the work group.
