In what ways, if any, are contemporary workers subject to the arbitrary power of their employers/managers? Is being subject to such power reason for concern? What sorts of institutional reforms could mitigate such capacity to wield arbitrary power? Explain.
Arbitrary power refers to the powers of superiors in many industries and sectors that are not legally controlled by the law. This type of power gives the superiors an uncontrollable authority over their subordinates which they use to keep them in a tensed state because the subordinates’ pay rise, promotion etc. depends on their decision.Subject to such power is definitely a hidden threat to the employees because they will be in an unseen and unstable emotional state of mind. This will not only prevent them from working well but also make them more insecure about their job.
Almost all the laws prevent the employers from victimizing their employees in any form but certain elements make things difficult that the employees can’t prove it with concrete proof. Fitting Cameras, Recording the official conversations, and maintaining a file with the employees’ complete history signed by different authorities could be maintained.
