Cultural miscalculation- Business in any form needs to communicate and have formal relationship with people of different cultures and countries. In such a situation when you are not able to understand a culture in its complete form then it is called as cultural miscalculation.
Global cultural miscalculation occurred in my business which is mainly based on food products.It was a common belief and a cultural miscalculation in out team analysis when they produced a final result of a cultural project as South Indians do not like non veg mix products in most of their food taken as bottles products.But when the scenario was faced in reality it was a wrong calculation. Many of them preferred non veg products and our products were stopped because of this cultural miscalculation.
Managers can handle the situation by the following methods.
1.Managers can very much personally check into the details of the culture .
2.A person from the particular culture who is deep rooted in their culture can either be appointed to lead them or guide them in the research.
3.End result or final findings should be clear and checked if it is the right one.
Better management can prevent cultural miscalculation from happening in the first place by
1.Appointing people related to various cultures in their business.
2.Acknowledging cultural aspects in workplace.
3.Celebrating special cultural days and letting all others participate in the celebration.
Globalisation and technology has made understanding of cultural concepts simple and easy. It also has reduced the time taken in understanding those aspects.It has reduced cultural miscalculation in business relationships and communications.It has made communications strong , reachable and understanding.
