Solutions

Expert Solution

  1. Wisdom teeth are also called third molars.
  2. The Esophagus. The esophagus is a muscular tube that connects the pharynx to the stomach
  3. There are four main regions in the stomach: the cardia, fundus, body, and pylorus
  4. Parietal cells produce gastric acid (hydrochloric acid) in response to histamine (via H2 receptors), acetylcholine (M3 receptors), and gastrin (gastrin receptors).
  5. A lacteal is a lymphatic capillary that absorbs dietary fats in the villi of the small intestine. Triglycerides are emulsified by bile and hydrolyzed by the enzyme lipase, resulting in a mixture of fatty acids, di- and monoglycerides.
  6. The coiled tube of the small intestine is subdivided into three regions. From proximal (at the stomach) to distal, these are the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum
  7. The gallbladder is a pear-shaped, hollow structure located under the liver and on the right side of the abdomen. Its primary function is to store and concentrate bile, a yellow-brown digestive enzyme produced by the liver. The gallbladder is part of the biliary tract.
