The EXCRETORY SYSTEM is responsible for our body excretion:
to maintain homeostasis, human removes wastes and excess water
from the body to prevent any damage to the body.
organs involved in the system:
Skin:
- excretes through producing sweat by sweat glands present in
dermis
- eliminates excess water, some amount of salt and urea and
maintain homeostasis
Liver:
- breaks down many substances in blood including toxin
- transforms ammonia into urea which is filtered by kidney and
passed in urine
large intestine:
- final organ of gastrointestinal tract
- eliminates solid waste
- extraction of water from indigestable food waste
- bile secreted into GI
Lungs:
- excretion of gaseous waste from the body
- eliminating carbon dioxide, maintaining acid-base
homeostasis
- also eliminates water vapor
Kidney:
- known as the main organs of excretion.
- elimination of excess water and wastes from the bloodstream by
the production of the liquid waste known as urine is the
main primary function.
- structural and functional units of the kidneys are tiny
structures called nephrons. They filter materials out of the blood,
return to the blood what is needed, and excrete the rest as
urine.
