Xiaomi Corporation was founded in April 2010 by Lei Jun and its headquarters are in Bejing,China. It is a company which deals in manufacturing of mobile phones, laptops, fitness bands and many other products. It has  become a largest company who deals with smartphones since 2014 and has rapidly expanded its operations across the world including Greater China, Japan, India, South Africa etc. After the companies like Apple, the Xiaomi stands on the fourth position who have the capability to develop the mobile phone chip. It is best known for high value smartphones.

With the vision of connecting with the customers and be friendly with them, they also have a great commitment towards the continues improvement and to have a good quality products. The logo of the company "MI" stands for "Mission Impossible" as Xiaomi faced many challenges in proving themselves in earlier days. So, their aim is to make a good quality technology which is accessible to everyone.

The Company has a great HR functioning which clearly works on the culture,core values as well as focus on the best practices.These values are followed and passed to new members of the company. They have also developed its Human Resource Development (HRD) on a large scale.

HRD Program in Xiaomi

Human Resource Development is a broader concept and it includes various process within the HR department such as employee retention, onboarding of employees, training, providing opportunities to skilled employees and many other development activities. It is very critical process to improve organization, individual or group effectiveness. The purpose of the Human Resource Development is to provide training to the employees so that they can perform the current and future jobs effectively and efficiently. Without the Learning and Development of employees would not be able to succeed and achieve organizational goals.

Evaluation of effectiveness of HRD program

As discussed above, implementation of Human Resource Development program is very important for any organization but on the other hand evaluation of effectiveness of HRD program is equally important. The Process of HRD cycle is listed below, the evaluation is one of the step :

  • Designing the HRD program
  • Delivering the HRD Program
  • Evaluation of HRD Program

Now, we will discuss about the last step "Evaluation of HRD program" by Xiaomi :

  • Data Collection : Data is collected from different offices and from different departments by Managers and collated accordingly. Then the data is analyzed by the expert team according to the set standard by the HRD program.
  • Performance Evaluation : Regular performance evaluation drives are conducted by Xiaomi at there different offices by HR managers. It is measured according to the standard set and if any discrepancy is found then required changes are implemented. Also, they analyze which participant benefits the most and least for future program.
  • Employee Feedback : This is one of the most important step of Xiaomi HRD evaluation. Employees are requested feedback on HRD program conducted through various medium. They are asked to rate the program on scale of one to ten where ten is the highest and one is worst. This helps Xiaomi to understand and implement better HRD program accordingly.
  • Knowledge Sharing : They ensures that employees who are trained are passing their knowledge to other employees as this is basic HR practice of this company.
  • Resource allocation : They believes in cross training of process so that they can allocate the resources as per the skill and knowledge of the employees which also leads to process improvements.
  • Analyzing cost-benefit ratio : Cost - benefit ratio is very important thing for any organization. We have to make sure that the trainings that are provided to employees should be cost beneficial in terms of output achieved.

Xiaomi has developed its Human Resource Development in such a way that it has helped them a lot to be in the position where they are standing today. There evaluation techniques are very innovative and give them the right picture of there Human Resource.
