We all have ways of showing consideration for others. What are some things you've done to show concern or consideration for a co-worker?

Showing consideration to the co-workers contains different meaning for everyone. Some believe that it is a foundation of good manner and for some it is a kind of adjustment in words and actions with other people's feelings. Therefore, it is very important to show concern or consideration for others especially to the co-worker at workplace because we spend most of the time of our day with them than with anyone else.

There are many ways in which we can show consideration for co-workers which are as follows:

  • Gestures: Gestures means showing respect to the co-workers which we can demonstrate in a simple way at workplace i.e. by offering a verbal compliment or a sweet smile to anyone in the office by which we can display that we are interested in their happiness and well being and also enjoys working with them. For example, a really nice idea would be offering breakfast, lunch and dinner to the co-workers as this will make the work environment friendly.
  • Give Help: This is the most effective way to show consideration for co-workers as there are times when colleagues get stuck in a work due to multiple reasons if the help is offered to them then this will create a more empathetic culture in the organization as well as it will generates goodwill between co-workers.
  • Back up in emergency: If the co-worker is ill or have any medical emergency in family then another way to show concern is to offer you as a back up for them. This will show that we have sympathy with the situation they are into and are willing to go way out to provide backup in case of emergencies. For example, if a co-worker is suffering from fever and not able to finish his/her work then we must talk to the respective manager to grant leave and offer the services to be a backup for sharing that particular workload.
  • Appreciate the co-worker: Everybody loves to be appreciated for a job well done which is a universal fact. So, if the co-worker has completed the task effectively and efficiently then we must applaud them personally for the hard work they have shown in their job. This can be done by sending a personal message or highlighting the co-worker contribution in front of the boss towards the recent project. These comments may seem small but they leave a higher impact on the co-worker showing office values their hard work. By this we can show consideration for co-workers.
  • Be Kind to them: The act of kindness is very important thing which doesn't go unnoticed in the office. It will be great idea for giving flowers or chocolates to the women in the office on Women's Day or celebrating co-workers birthdays by organizing a small team party for their special occasion. This is the best way to show consideration for co-workers as they will feel good and motivated in the office.
