1Q). What is translation and what region of a cell does it occur in a cell?
Ans). Translation is the process of synthesizing proteins according to the sequence of mRNA. It occurs in the cytoplasm.
2Q). What non-membrane bound structure in a cell is involved in the process of translation, where are the two places they can be found in a eukaryote?
Ans). Ribosomes is the cell involved in the process of translation. Ribosomes are found either freely in the cytoplasm or bound to endoplasmic reticulum.
3Q). How many nucleotides on mRNA code for one amino acid, and what is the name of the unit on mRNA that codes for that one amino acid?
Ans). Every successive three nucleotides code for an amino acid. The three nucleotides is said to be a codon.
4Q). What is an anticodon and where do you find it?
Ans). Anticodon is the complementary to the codon present on the mRNA. The anticodon is found on the tRNA.
5Q). What is the role of tRNA in the process of translation?
Ans). tRNA helps in the transfer of amino acids to the plasce where protein synthesis takes place.
