What is depolarization? Where does it occur?

What is depolarization? Where does it occur?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Change in membrane potential from resting negative value in positive direction is called depolarization. The inside of the cell becomes less negative or positive, in comparison to the outside of the cell.

It occurs in all cells, but more importantly in excitable tissues like nerves and muscles.
