What is the definition of inclusion? How does it differ from diversity?
Inclusion can be defined as "welcoming of people in the group or structure" dictionary reference.
Diversity is recognizing the different people and being composed of people of different characteristics.
Let's understand the difference with an example :
A company has 100 employees working for them with different castes, colors, backgrounds etc. This is called diversity since the company is composed of diverse employees.
The controlling or the managing authority or employees who are given authority are, say, whites only. This is called inclusion.
Inclusion is accepting the diverse nature of the structure and while diversity is mere representation of it. Diversity would represent a group of people with different characteristics while inclusion would mean people with different characteristics equally forming the structure.
The difference between both lies between what how the mix of people looks or composed and how that mix works.
