Underage drinking in Western Europe is most common when teen peeks into their early twenties. Young people have serious consequences of alcohol consumption due to higher level of vulnerability to the adverse effects of alcohol. Large consumption of alcohol in adolescence can affect brain development and has a higher risk of organ damage in the developing body.
The consequences range from mild to horrific including accidents, antisocial behaviour, emotional torture, depression and sometimes even violence. Alcohol use disorders tests have reported high rates of depression and anxiety in adolescents with increased rates of suicidality.
People with alcohol use disorders often undergo Comorbid psychiatric disorders. Disruptive behaviours disorders are the most common comorbid psychiatric disorders among youngsters with high rate of alcohol consumption. People with substance use disorders have reported higher rates of ADHD. Sexual abuse is very common among alcohol dependent people.
