explain the inflammatory response.
The inflammatory response is also known as inflammation and is triggered by the activation of our immune system. The process of inflammation occurs when tissues are impacted and affected by wide range of infectious microbes, toxins, allergens, heat etc. When the tissue is affected by such foreign toxins or particles, it tends to initiate the release of compounds like histamine, prostaglandins etc. which triggers swelling due to leakage of fluid into the affected tissues. In short, the inflammation or immune response is the body’s way to fight against the antigens or foreign particles by activation of the immune system. The immune system can recognize the antigens or harmful microbes and destroy the same. The histamines are organic compounds which are released in response to foreign pathogen by basophils and mast cells. With the increased concentration of histamine, it makes the capillaries permeable to WBC and it helps in eliminating the antigens and foreign pathogens.
