A brick wall 25cm thick, initially at 80°C has a medium at 15°C suddenly placed in conatct with both of its surfaces through a heat transfer coefficient of 90W/m2°C. Find the temperature at a point 2.5cm from the surafce after 10hrs have elapsed. Find also the heat that has flowed out of the wall during that time. Take ρ = 1602kg/m3, cp = 0.84kJ/kg°C, k = 0.69W/m°C,and α = 5.2×10-7m2/s.

Solutions

Expert Solution

The temperature at 2.5 cm away from the wall can be determined using transient state equation. By finding the Fourier or Biot number, we shall determine if lumped parameter is applicable or not. If not we shall use heisler chart for flat plate. (Brick can be considered a flat plate).

A loop has a radius of 15 centimeters and it is initially in the plane of your screen. A constant magnetic field is pointing out of the screen and has a value of 1T. The loop then rotates by 45º along a vertical axis (so it's partially sticking out of your screen). It takes 4.8 seconds to rotate. Determine the electromotive force (the voltage) that will be generated in the process (express your answer in mV)
