1. ANSWER: hemolytic disease of newborn also called eryhtroblastosis fetalis, is an alloimmune disorder that develops in a fetus at or around the time of birth, when the IgG antibodies produced by the maternal immune system reaches the placenta. The fetus may develop reticulocytosis and anemia. Due to increased hemolysis of fetal RBC retuculocytosis happens. As there is increased hemolysis there will be increased bilirubin levels which leads to jaundice. In severe cases, heart failure, enlarged liver, spleen, respiratory distress.

2. ANSWER: The treatment of the infant with this disoder may include temperature stabilization and monitoring, phototherapy, exchange transfusion, Sodium bicarbonate for correction of acidosis and assisted ventilation.

3. ANSWER: Hemolytic disease of newborn has predilection to Rh negative mother giving birth to Rh positive child. Hence, mothers with Rh negative blood requires treatment.
