The complete blood count gives an idea about hemoglobin concentration , total leukocytes count, RBC count ,platelets count, Differential WBC count, hematocrit, Packed cell volume, reticulocyte count , along with this it gives idea about RBC morphology, Platelets morphology, any abnormal cell.
13. TRUE
The red cell indices helps in diagnosing in anemia which means hemoglobin concentration and morphological characteristics of RBC.
Typically there are 4 red cell indices - Mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) , mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), red cell distribution width(RDW).
MCV -- describes as ,average volume of RBC. Means ( packed cell volume×1000)/ RBC count in millions .... expressed in femtoliters.
MCH-- describes as amount of hemoglobin (in gm/dL)per RBC number ( in millions/micro liters) ...... expressed in picograms.
MCHC-- describes as hemoglobin (in g/dl) per PCV of RBC..... expressed in g/DL.
RDW-- measurements of anisocytosis means the shape and size or morphology of RBC...... in iron deficiency anemia there is elevated RDW.
14. TRUE
white blood cell differential may be done by automated hematology analyzer or by examining stained blood smear .. as in automated hematology analyzer the differental WBC count (3 part or 5 part)is done totally automatically by analyzer..on the blood smear examination the blood smear is stained and seen under microscope for find out different type
BUT in centrifuge method the differential WBC count can not be done as there is presence of buffy coat which is composed of WBC and platelets and indicates only the total number of WBC. Usually , it is determined by 0.1mm thickness of buffy coat indicates that 1000 WBC present per cubic millimetre.
15.FALSE
In stained blood smear not only the slight difference in their size ,shape, and colour but also also wide variety differences can be seen through blood smear like if the RBC is nucleated means there is problem in bone marrow damage, if there is presence of parasite like malaria parasites seen in RBC (known as ring form).
