For this example project:

Designing a virtual reality program that simulates a peaceful environment to help people in therapy overcome pain

  1. What kind of data gathering would be appropriate to evaluate requirements? Why?
  2. What method(s) would you use to analyze the data?
  3. What kind of prototype would you use to evaluate your design during an early stage of development? Why?

Solutions

Expert Solution

ANSWERS :

ANS 1. Following kind of data gathering would be appropriate to evaluate requirements :

There are basically 2 types of data gathering :

1. Primary Data Gathering

2. Secondary Data Gathering

The most suitable data collection form here is :

- Qualitative Method involving Research : This is a method in which the data is gathered by using some mathematical calculations.It takes into account the mathematical feature rather than the emotions. It basically includes :

* Open Ended questions.

* Surveys over the internet.

* Interviews (more detailed)

- Quantitative Method : It again consists of mathematical calculations. It includes :

* Face to Face questionare

* Via Telephone and Email

ANS 2.  Following methods would be used to analyze the data :

They are of basically 2 types : Qualitative data analysis and Quantitative Data analysis.

In this case following method used :

1. Oualitative : It ususally consists of pictures, written texts etc.

* Data / Content Analysis

* Narrative Analysis

2. Quantitative : It is statistical way of data analysing .

* Using Mean

* Data Set / Hypothesis Analysing

ANS 3. Following kind of prototype would you use to evaluate your design during an early stage of development :

1. Feasibility Prototype :

It involves the creating of a prototype which is used to determine the feasibility of the design, to check the working and verify the possible threats that can lead to unsuccessful design of project.

2. Rapid Prototype :

It involves the creating of a prototype which is used to determine the results very fast i.e. in a short period of time, to get the results quickly this is used.

You are the lead human–computer interaction (HCI) engineer on a major design project for an organization of your choice. Employees or customers will use this new system and user interface (UI) design to perform data entry for the organization. The UI will need to provide the required input and output to characterize the type of data collected by the organization. Choose an organization, such as a business, nonprofit group, government, or another organization. Provide a description of your chosen organization,...

In an online Human Computer Interaction (HCI) lecture, the lecturer mentioned that there are many rules that have been created to guide computer software programmers as well as hardware designers. He mentioned “ben Shneiderman’s eight golden rules” as one of such guidelines, and went on to explain each rule to the class using real life examples. As a teaching assistant in the IT department in Wisconsin international university college Ghana the HCI lecturer have asked you to teach his next...

Project 1—UNIX Shell This project consists of designing a C program to serve as a shell interface that accepts user commands and then executes each command in a separate process. Your implementation will support input and output redirection, as well as pipes as a form of IPC between a pair of commands. Completing this project will involve using the UNIX fork(), exec(), wait(), dup2(), and pipe() system calls and can be completed on any Linux, UNIX, or macOS system. I....

A program director for a large computer maker is evaluating a circuit-designing software package. Not only is the program purported to ease the engineer’s tasks, but its author also claims that the finished products will be more economical because fewer logical elements will be needed. To test this theory, the software was borrowed and used to redesign 20 prototype circuits already completed the traditional way. The resulting computer-generated designs all worked and involved a mean percentage reduction in components of...
