You're building a new desktop computer from parts you picked out and purchased. You invested a good deal of money in this computer and want to be sure to protect your investment while you assemble it. What precautions should you take to protect your computer from damage and electrostatic discharge?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution :   It is very obvious to say that most of the electronic computing devices are sensitive to charges. So, following are the precautions which must be taken before assembling so that we could protect our computer from damage and electrostatic discharge :

(a) As we know that the low relative humidity of the environment increases the static electricity in the environment which causes more damage and more electrostatic discharge, So, it is good to work in such an environment where we could increase the relative humidity of the environment so that the electronic devices could get protected easily.

(b) Before assembling the parts, using Grounding Mats and Grounding Wrist Strap might also work as an another or extra precaution for protecting the computer parts ( most of the parts of the electronic devices ) against electrostatic discharge.

(c) Apart from this, avoid using plastics and Styrofoams while assembling the parts because these are static-causing surfaces, which is good for handling precautions easily and effectively.
