Expert Solution

Desktop Computer

total people who bought desktop computer = 20

number of people who purchased a service plan that extends the warranty for an extra year = 5

So percentage of people who bought desktop computer with extended warranty are :

= 5/20 = 0.25

In percentage = 0.25*100 = 25%
And percentage of people who did not bought with extended warranty = 100 - 25 = 75%

Notebook Computer

total people who bought notebook computer = 100

number of people who purchased with same service plan = 12

So percentage of people who bought notebook computer with extended warranty are :

= 12/100 = 0.12

In percentage = 0.12 * 100 = 12%
And percentage of people who did not bought with extended warranty = 100 - 12 = 88%

Last month, customers of the store who purchased desktop computers were more likely to purchase a service plan, because only 75% did not purchase the service plan, whereas 88% of the customers who bought notebook computer did not purchase the service plan.
