How is the patient evaluation after the treated shoulder dislocation? What are the methods applied in the rehabilitation period?
Sholder joint is a ball and socket joint. Sholder joint is more prone to dislocation. Dislocation occur when the ball wrenched out of its socket. So we need to apply pressure to put the ball in correct position.
After the dislocation solved there may be severe pain while movement. It is normal. The evaluation that a nurse should monitor after resoving the dislocation of shoulder joint is that assess the movement of the joint. The victim should performe most of the shoulder movements with mild pain. Years taken to get releif from the pain.
The aim of the rehabilitation is to get relief from that pain experience during the shoulder movement. Prorly immediately after the shoulder dislocation we need to put restain to immobilize the joint. Pain may be experienced to 2 to 3 weeks. Normaly painkillers can be used to reduce the pain. Ice packs can also be used to relieve pain. In this time we are using the exercises such as shoulder flextion and adduction by supporting the arm with unaffected arm.
After get releif from pain the rehabilitation aimed at increasing the range of motion of shoulder joint. In this phase we are implementing exercises to restole the strength of muscles which help in movement of shoulder. Here we are teaching internal rotator and external rotator exercises and mobility exercises which help to regain the mobility of shoulder joints.
