Recall how H+ and CO2 relate to the ventilatory threshold. How is this impacted by endurance training?
Please explain how H+ and CO2 are impacted with the ventilatory threshold from endurance training.
Thanks
The ventilation threshold (VT1) refers to the stage where ventilation begins to increase faster than VO2 (V – volume O2 – oxygen) during exercise. When the amount of intensity of the activity being done increases, breathing becomes quicker; first steadier and then quicker as the intensity increases. One has reached ventilation threshold when breathing exceeds normal ventilation rate.
linearity of ventilation with changes of work load and oxygen utilization deviates at certain points which is named as Ventilatory threshold.
Alveolar ventilation is coupled with CO2 which flows through lungs leading to maintain arterial CO2 pressure during moderate exercise.
when intensity of exercise increses H+ release from the lactic acid and not again buffered by bicarbnate in blood so metabolic acidosis takes place.
if increase in H+ ions takes place it stimulates chemoreceptors that increase ventilation..
