The source of the contamination in animal culture can be coming from the chemicals used in cell culture and from the biological materials. The chemical contamination in cell culture includes -Animal cell growth media, serum, free radicals in media ,plastic bottles or equipments used in cell culture and detergent or disinfectants in the culture-ware.The biological source of the contamination in cell cell culture includes -living organism such as mycoplasma, yeast , fungi,bacteria and cross contamination from different type of cell lines.

The precautions we should take to prevent the contamination in animal cell culture are - 1. use of personal protective equipments such as gloves, lab coat 2. proper handling of animal culture hood 3.by disinfecting water bath and incubator regularly.4. use of ethanol spray on everything before working in cell culture 5.maintaining sterile environment 6.using all sterile reagents and labwares 7.adapting proper discarding technique i.e.. bleach contaminated samples.
