How would you characterize “Christine” the character in City of Ladies?
Christine de Pizan is an ordinary women who happened to read a book and got influenced by it because she started to feel that women are inferior to men. Later when she was visited by the three magical sisters, she was influenced by them and believed that she could do anything as a women. These two instances show her weak personality because she is easily persuaded. At the end she showed great courage and persistence by not giving up during times of stress and self-doubt. She also used the help of the three magical sisters properly in order to achieve what was proposed by Lady Reasoning, to build a City of Ladies.

She seems to undergo a change in this story. What are the influences that affect her character?
When Christine was confused after reading the book from the library which described women as weak and inferior beings, she was visited by three magical sisters, Lady Reason, Lady Rectitude, and Lady Justice. It was Lady Reasoning who changed the attitude initially by explaining the importance of women into this earth. She also told Christine that she was wrong in thinking women as weak and suggested that she could build a city for the women where all the best women will live. These three magical sisters started a long journey with Christine in making this come true by supporting her morally and encouraging her not to give-up.
Throughout her journey, she poses lots of doubts questioning the ability of women and she is convinced by the three magical sisters with lots of examples of women who excelled in their lives. She kept losing her focus during the journey as doubt and inferiority complex crippled her at times but the three sisters kept motivating her and made her realise that anything can be accomplished by a woman. She finally builds the City of Ladies which shows her strength as a women in accomplishing the task.
