What is a landmark for metacarpals? What is a landmark for phalanges? What is a landmark for tarsals?
Metacarpals - 5 bones related to each digit of the hand. Extends from wrist area upto the fingers.
Phalanges - They are bones of fingers. Each finger in the hand has 3 phalanges except in thump which has 2 phalanges.
Tarsal - Seen in the ankle area of foot.
**Metacarpal bones:
They articulate distally with proximal phalanges and proximally with carpal bones. Each bone is related to each digit.
**Phalanges:
Thumb has 2 phalanges- distal and Proximal
Other 4 fingers have 3 phalanges- distal, middle and Proximal
**Tarsal bones:
There are 7 irregularly shaped bones in the ankle region.
They are arranged in 3 rows.
Tarsal bones are talus, calcaneus, navicular, cuboid and cuneiforms.
