A small HCO (Healthcare Organization) in a well-managed healthcare system can consider three ways to obtain a CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) . It can “stand alone,” hiring its own professionals. It can “outsource,” buying service from a local provider. It can “affiliate,” arranging for training, procedures, and supervision through its system. What’s the best solution? How should the HCO decide what to do? Who should be involved in the decision? What should the system senior management do to support the best solutions for all the system HCOs?
Let us evaluate the feasibility and value addition of each available option
Option 1: The firm can stand-alone and hire its own professionals
Option 2: The firm can outsource and buy services from local provider
Option 3: The firm can affiliate and train its existing employees
If CSS is critical for the organization, Option 3 can be chosen. But if it serves a small value addition and is not a very critical process, Option 2 will be the best solution.
The above decision must be taken by considering the interests of all the important stakeholders. A stakeholders meeting can be conducted to brainstorm about the ways and the options available to obtain a CSS.
The top management must first come to a consensus about which option will be the best for the company. Based on the chosen solution, the top management must equip the employees to adopt and facilitate the usage of CSS in their daily operations. The top management must play the role of a facilitator.
