In detail explain the response of the cardiovascular system to exercise. (expecting an advance level answer)
thanks in advance.
The cardiovascular system plays a major role during exercise. This is the system through which the blood flows through the system and helps in delivering oxygen to different parts of the body. The blood helps in delivering various nutrients and oxygen along with hormones and immune cells which helps in better regulation of the body, maintain various functions, promote respiration and helps in providing energy. It also helps in eliminating toxins and waste from different parts of the body. The main organ during the cardiovascular system is the heart and as the intensity of the exercise increases, it tends to increase the pulse, increase heart rate and blood flow due to increase in the demand for oxygen for energy. During exercise, the requirement for blood and oxygen in muscles increases due to its increase work. Hence it helps in delivering more blood from heart and lungs to the muscles and hence it helps in fulfilling the requirement of energy. As the exercise increase, it increases the heart rate due to the increase in circulation of blood and increase of pumping of blood from the heart. It increases the pulmonary circulation because in this it carries the deoxygenated blood from heart via the right ventricles to lungs and it is replenished with oxygenated. The oxygenated blood then moves to the heart. As the heart rate increases, the blood vessels deliver the oxygenated blood from heart to different muscles and tissues and return deoxygenated blood from tissues via systemic circulation.
As one starts aerobic exercise, the demand for oxygen for oxygen increases for production of ATP for energy. Hence, in order to deliver more oxygen, the blood circulation increases and it increases heart rate. While the body is preparing for the same, it switches to anaerobic system for production of energy which increases muscle fatigue. In order to meet the oxygen deficient due to exercise, the cardiovascular system tends to go from resting state or increase heart rate and stroke volume state. As the heart rate and stroke volume increases, it increase cardiac output which increases the rate of breathing and hence it tends to bring more oxygen to lungs. As the systolic blood pressure, it increases blood distribution and hence the blood vessels are able to deliver more oxygen to muscles. As there in increase in blood flow to the muscle, there is also increase in flow of oxygen to the muscle.
