Observe Arthropods below
For each, find the
exoskeleton, jointed appendages, tagmata (head, thorax, abdomen, cephalothorax), metameres.
(I could not find any picture with all these for each of these for my lab, could you please help me, thank you.)
1-Exoskeleton.a rigid external covering for the body in some invertebrate animals, especially arthropods.
2-Joined Appendages.-3-Tagmata:-each of the morphologically distinct sections of the body of an arthropod, comprised of two or more segments, as the head, thorax, and abdomen of an insect.
in another terms it is a specialized grouping of multiple segments or metameres into a coherently functional morphological unit. Familiar examples are the head, the thorax, and the abdomen of insects.
The segments within a tagma may be either fused (such as in the head of an insect) or so jointed as to be independently moveable (such as in the abdomen of most insects).
4-Metameres:-Any of the homologous segments that compose the bodies of certain animals; otherwise called a somite.
