in viscous damping free vibration response what has the most powerful effect among m, c, k and initial condition? please write the reason.

Solutions

Expert Solution

  1. In viscous damping free vibration when we increase the damping the deflection will decrease exponentially up to critical damping beyond that increase in damping increase the time to come to zero deflection
  2. when we change the spring constant by keeping all other parameters constant deflection will vary parabolically (i.e., deflection always decreases with increasing spring constant)
  3. the response of system by changing the mass has the effect same as that of changing spring constant by increasing the mass the deflection will always increase.
  4. By changing the initial condition up to certain deflection the response will be more but after a certain limit, the response will decrease.
