Chi(χ) paramter is exchange interaction parameter in their lattice model of polymer solutions which helps many thermodynamic properties of polymer solutions such as solubility / miscibility, swelling equilibria, and other properties to be expressed in its terms.

Its typical values for polymer solution i.e. the χ parameter has a value between 0.45 and 0.50 as follows
