polymer that doesn't have memory
what polymer has no memory
Polymer memory denotes to a shape memory polymers that use technology on smart organic polymeric materials. These are also called as shape memory polymeric materials. The memory polymers are cross linked polymers. These materials change to an original (fixed) shape from a temporary shape when an external stimulus such as heat or temperature is used. Some shape memory polymers include polyurethanes, polyethylene oxide, polystyrene and polynornene. The shape memory can be activated by light, electricity, heat and temperature.
The applications of shape memory polymers is used industrially in foams, gripping agents, helmets, suits for sports, auto choke for engines. In medical applications shape polymers are used in ophthalmic devices such as glaucoma shunts, intraocular lenses and in orthopedic devices.
A non-shape memory polymer is one which cannot change back from temporary to fixed state. Examples include fabrics, metals, paper, ceramics and polymers such as polyolefins, polypropylene and polyethylene tetraphthalate. The non-shape memory polymers are commonly used in packaging processes.
