Present full electron configuration with the orbital filling diagram for the following atoms or ions.
P3-
B3+
O2-
Ne-
Na+
F2-
Si
Answer – We are given the ions and need to write the electron configuration with the orbital filling diagram for the given atoms or ions.
We know the general electronic configuration and we know the number of electrons are filled in the orbital is equal to its atomic number, for example Carbon has atomic number 6 then we need to fill 6 electrons in the orbitals in the electronic configuration. We are given ions when there is negative charged ion mean there is need to plus the charge and atomic number of that atom. If there is positive charge then we need to subtract the charge number from atomic number of that atom.
The follow are the electron configuration with the orbital filling diagram-
P3- = 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6
B3+ = 1s2
O2- = 1s2 2s2 2p6
Ne = 1s2 2s2 2p6
Na+ = 1s2 2s2 2p6
F2- = 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s1
Si = 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p5
