An ideal Rankine cycle operates with a turbine inlet pressure of 600 psia and a turbine inlet temperature of 526 oF. The steam is isentropically expanded through the turbine to 15 psia as illustrated on the T-s diagram shown below. Using the Mollier diagram, determine the enthalpy at the turbine inlet, in BTU/lbm, under these operating conditions. State your answer in whole numbers.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Please note that answer may not match exactly due to reading errors as Mollier chart hs been used to find the values(as was asked in the question). However, procedure to find the answer will be the same.

In the end I have also shown how to find the enthalpy of steam at the exit of turbine in ideal case in addition to the enthalpy of steam at the inlet of turbine(which was asked in the question) which could be useful for similar questions.

For any further clarification or feedback please reply in the comments.
