Consider the equilibrium Na2O(s) + SO2(g) ⇌ Na2SO3(s).
(a) Write the equilibrium-constant expression for this reaction in terms of partial pressures.
(b) All the compounds in this reaction are soluble in water. Rewrite the equilibrium-constant expression in terms of molarities for the aqueous reaction.
Consider the given equilibrium
Na2O (s) + SO2 (g) → Na2S03 (s)
a)
The equilibrium constant expression is given by
Kp = 1/( pSO2)
Here, pSO2 is the partial pressure of SO2 at equilibrium
b)
Na2O and Na2SO3 does not appear in the equilibrium constant expression because they are solids.
Because they are in solid form, their pressures will remain constant through the reaction.
As a result they are not included.
Consider the given equilibrium
Na2O (s) + SO2 (g) → Na2S03 (s)
a)
The equilibrium constant expression is given by
Kp = 1/( pSO2)
