describe the characteristics of the odontogenic zone
Histology of pulp shows 4 layers..
1.odontogenic or odontoblastic zone (peripheral zone)
2.cell freezone.(central zone)
3.cell rich zone.(central zone)
4.pulp proper.(central zone)/
characteristics of odontogenic zone:
- peripheral aspect of dental pulp is odontogenic zone.
-It differentiate into layer of odontoblasts cells.
- forms dentin.
Odontoblasts form a layer lining the periphery of the pulp and their process extends in to dentin.
Odontoblasts in crown are larger than in root and number of odontoblasts corresponds to the number of dentinal tubules.
Odontoblasts locate adjacent to predentin with cell bodies in the pulp and cell process in the dentinal tubules.
