what do the different schedules mean for long term 2 enhanced surface water treatment rule?
The purpose of the long term 2 enhanced surface water treatment rule is to reduce illness linked with the contaminant Cryptosporidium and other disease-causing microorganisms in drinking water. The rule applies to all public water systems that use surface water or groundwater under the direct influence of surface water. LT2 requires systems that use surface water or groundwater under the direct influence of surface water to sample their source water during two rounds of sampling. The first round of source water sampling has been mostly completed by most public water systems, and the second round is just beginning.
Schedule 1-3 tests to perform on cryptosporidium, E.coli and turbidity. Schedule 4 tests to perform E.coli and Cryptosporidium.
