For the color Green, explain the relationship between the observed color and either the wavelengths of maximum absorbance or maximum transmittance.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Solution :-

The relationship between the observed color and either the wavelength of maximum absorbance is that when white light passes through or is reflected by a colored substance, a characteristic portion of the mixed wavelengths is absorbed. The remaining light will then assume the complementary color to the wavelength(s) absorbed. This relationship is demonstrated by the color wheel shown on the right.

The color of an object or material is determined by the wavelengths it absorbs and those it reflects. An object has the color of the wavelengths it reflects. A material that reflects all wavelengths of visible light appears white. A material that absorbs all wavelengths of visible light appears black. A green lime absorbs most wavelengths but reflects green, so the lime looks green.

A researcher wanted to examine if there is a relationship between color preference (i.e., favorite color: red, yellow, green or blue) and personality type (i.e., extrovert or introvert). He selected a sample of n = 200 participants; each participant took a personality test and identified the favorite color. The collected data are shown in the table below. Do the data indicate a significant relationship between personality type and color preference? Test with p < .01. RED YELLOW GREEN BLUE INTROVERT...

The null, Ho, indicates that there is either no relationship or a positive relationship between Amazon’s growth over the past ten years and number of Best Buy brick and mortar locations.  The alternative, H1, seeks to prove that there is a negative relationship between the variables, Amazon and Best Buy brick and mortar locations. In other words, Amazon’s growth is negatively impacting Best Buy by forcing store location closures. Using a 95% confidence interval, construct a test of hypothesis using the...

A psychologist is interested in the relationship between color of food and appetite. To explore this relationship, the researcher bakes small coockies with icing of one of three different colors (green, red or blue). The researcher offers cookies to subjects while they are performing a boring task. Each subject is run individually under the same conditions, except for the color of the icing on the cookies that are available. Six subjects are randomly assigned to each color. The number of...
