Q what is the difference between an electronic media record (EMR) and an electronic health record (EHR)? The value of EHRs is being questioned by the many. What is opinion in this matter, from a ethical perspective?

Ans: Firstly let's understand what is the electronic media record (EMR) and an electronic health record (EHR).

Electronic medical record (EMR): The EMR or electronic medical record is basically anything that we are find in the paper chart such as the diagnoses, medical history, allergies, medications etc. This basically conatins the  treatment history and the mrdival history of the patients in one practice. As compare to the paper record the EMR has the following advantages:

  • It track the data over time.
  • It helps in monitoring and to improve the overall quality  of care within the practice.
  • It also checks how their patients are doing on certain parameters - such as the  vaccinations or blood pressure readings .

Electronic health record (EHR) : The EHR is basically the digital records and  health record of the health information. It conatins all the information that we're find on the paper chart and a lot more.It include the past past medical history, , diagnoses,  medications, vital signs etc.It also contain some of the relevant information, such as the demographic data, insurance information and also the data that are imported from personal wellness devices.

Difference between an electronic media record (EMR) and an electronic health record (EHR):

EMR (electronic medical records):

  • It is a digital version of a chart.
  • It is designed in such a way that it not to be shared outside the individual practice.
  • It not allow to share the record outside the individual practice.
  • It mainly used by the provider's for treatement and the diagnosis.

EHR (electronic health records):

  • It is a digital record of health information.
  • It has the streamlined of sharing the real-time information, update.
  • It allow to move the  patient’s medical information.
  • In this the provider's access the tool that can use for decision making.

My opinion about the value of EHRs is being questioned by the many: As we know that the implementaion of the Electronic health record (EHR) increases in many of the ideveloping countries. It has the need to improve the  quality of health care and is also cost-effective. But the technologies can introduce some hazards and for this we need some of the safety of information in the system is a real challenge.According to the recent review some of the security breaches has put a question mark on this type of the system. So , this all types of the security must be maintained in the system .The security issues and the ethical issues that are some of the issues in this types of the system , so we must avoid such types of the issues.According to me if we maintain the issues that are arises in this system like the security issues and the ethical issues , if we solve such types of the issues then it will be very well and good.

THANKS , i think this will give you a better intuition about your question. If you have any doubt feel free to ask in the comment section.
