a metal nitrate as nitrogen ar each corner and a metal ar each edge. what is the empirical formula
Note: Please type the answer
The undissolved solute may contain the impurities which are undissolved in water. Hence, to add a new salt it is better to remove the salt undissolved before adding crystal.
The increasing number of carbons in a homologous series of alcohol decreases the solubility of alcohol in water. This is because of increasing the London-dispersion forces in the higher alcohols increases the non-polarity.
There are 8 corners and each corner is shared by 8 neighboring atoms. Hence the nitrate contribution in the unit cell is 1/8.
Total nitrates in unit cell are - 8*1/8 = 1
Similarly, the number of edges is 6. Each edge is shared by two atoms. Hence the number of metal atoms present are 6*1/2 = 3
Thus - The empirical formula is M(NO3)3
