Write about your review of available literature on the different approaches in the classification of nerve fiber?
There are three main fuctional classification of nerves - sensory (afferent), intermediate and motor (efferent ), There are few keystructural differences between these three types :
1.Sensory nerves have small axons and psuedounipolar structure.
2. Motor nerves hava larger axons and multipolar structure.
3. Intermediate neurones have central cell body and many dendrites.
Sensory and motor nerves are located within the PNS, whereas intermediate nerves are found in the CNS.
Properties of Nerve Fiber:
1. Excitability : When a stimulus ia applies . the nerve fibre demonstrated a change on its electrical activity from its resting state.
2. Conductivity : It ia the ability of the nerve fibre to transmit impulses all aling the whole length of axon without any changes in the amplitude of the action potential. This type of conduction is known as decrementless conduction.
3. Refractory period : It is the duration after an effective stimulus, when a second stimulus is applied, there will be no response for the secons stimulus.
