Eyesenk's personality model - is based upon biological factors arhuing that individuals inherit a type of nevous system that affects their ability to learn and adapt to the environment. He found that personality could be divided into two dimensions Introversion (they are reserved, calm, they are already over aroused and shun sensation and stimulation) /Extroversion (Extroverts are social, crave for change because they inheirt an under aroused nervous system) (E) ; Neuroticism (determined by the activity of nevous system ) and Stability(would be less reactive to stressful situations (N). He later added Psychotism ( lacking in empathy, cruel have high level of testosterone) and normality
Cattel's 16 PF Theory - Cattel disagreed with Eyesenk's view, he said that there were many many traits required to define personality, His personality traits included factors like Warmth, intellect, emotional stability, aggressiveness, liveliness, dutifulness, social assertiveness, sensitivity, paranoia, abstractness, introversion,anxiety, open mindedness, independence, perefectionism and tension.
5 Factor Model - Since 20th century this is used for better understanding of personality, These include Openess to experience ( Willingness to try for new activities, enjoy new art and culture whereas closed to experience do not want to be uncertain, prefer to be safe), Conscientiousness(high score people are more aware of their actions, goal orientied where as people with low score diplay impulsiveness) , Extraversion (high score are easily outgoing, sociable,talkative where as people with low score have reserved, shy) agreeableness (high scoreres are more adaptable, likeable, cooperative altrustic, peace maker where as low scorer like to go as per their self interest, they are perceived being more sefish) Neuroticism (high scorers are have more anxiety problems, they tend to think a lot where has low scorers have positive outlook toward society, they are calm) - It has acronym OCEAN
