Task 1: Consider hip hinging to touch your toes or palms to floor in open space versus performing the same hip hinge with your heels and coccyx touching a wall.
Task 2: Consider performing planter flexion from standing position in free space versus performing the same movement while facing a wall and your nose touching the wall
1.Consider the free space versus inhibited space demonstrations: why was it so difficult to achieve stability between conditions? a)Plantar flexing against a wall face forward b)Toe touch with back to wall
2.Consider trunk extension : Why might there be a difference in how each sex may be able to complete the task or not?
Please help with both questions!!!!!!
In the case of toe touch with back to wall
Hip hinging exercise involve movement of pelvic rotation so that hip will flex and allow the lowering of body to touch the toe. But if the person is standing with back to ball, that results in restriction for pelvis to perform rotation, and reduces hip flexion range of motion.Actually pelvic rotation occurs with first 8 degree of hip flexuion. This leads to difficulty to touch the toe as hip range of movement is reduced.
In case of plantar flexing against the wall with face forward,
Here starting position for plantarflexion is dorsiflexed position of ankle as his upper body is leaned towards wall. The tibia is moved anteriorly in relation to foot, so its dorsiflexion. So to do plantar flexion from a dorsiflexed position, gastrosoleus muscles have to put more force and the end range of plantar flexion will be limited due to anterior movement of tibia.
males and females show different movement stratergies. females lack hip extensor strength and reduced extension range of motion compared to males, its because od the broad pelvis and less trunk control they have compared to males,.
