You collect data to answer the research question, “Are high school boys involved in more automobile accidents than high school girls?” After conducting a hypothesis test, you conclude that there is sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis at α = 0.05. Use complete sentences to answer the following.
(a)
H0: Null Hypothesis: High school boys are involved in less than or equal to automobile accidents for high school girls
HA: Alternative Hypothesis: High school boys are involved in more automobile accidents than high school girls
(b)
Our conclusion pertaining to real-life There is sufficient evidence to support the claim: High school boys are involved in more automobile accidents than high school girls.
(c)
If the conclusion: " there is sufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis at α = 0.05" is not correct, It is Type I Error: Rejection of a true null hypothesis.
The correct conclusion is: : " there is insufficient evidence to reject the null hypothesis at α = 0.05"
(d)
The possible consequences of this error is that we wrongly conclude that High school boys are involved in more automobile accidents than high school girls, whereas in reality High school boys are involved in less than or equal to automobile accidents for high school girls, As a result, we will be wrongly concentrating on high school boys using automobiles whereas inreality high school boys are involved in less automobile accidents.
(e)
To reduce Type I Error, decrease the alpha level.
