Your assignment this week is to define the ways that teams can be used to foster innovation at NewCo. How will teams be selected and structured? What leadership methods will be used to guide these teams? Base your use of teams on the work you have completed for previous components of the project.

Ways that teams can be used to foster innovation at New Co:

There are number of ways that can be used in order to make the teams work for the company more effectively and hence increase the level of innovation:

• Inculcating the spirit of participation in the employees and make them feel at home.
• Encouraging the employee to explore more on different issues concerning the company by giving them additional benefits after success.
• Telling the employees the importance of team work and that working together will bring more innovative and creative ideas.
• Creating an open environment where new innovative ideas from anyone in the organization are welcomed.
• Make the environment flexible so that new ideas are implemented and the management is not stuck with the old ones.

How will teams be selected and structured?

In order to select the appropriate and best fit teams, number of points need to be kept in mind:

• The capabilities, skills of the employees should be known well in advance before framing the teams.
• The employees holding specific skills and abilities must be grouped in together so that they can be put under one team.
• A team should not contain many employees, as it might become uncontrollable for the superior to handle them.
• The structure of any team should be a flat structure, where numbers of employees are put under a superior for training and guidance.

What leadership methods will be used to guide these teams?

• If wanting to guide a team, the leader must always follow a participative type of leadership style.
• Employees must be given a chance to participate in decision making and speak out their innovative minds.
• Decisions should never be imposed on the employees related to anything and should be given an open space to give innovative ideas.
• Another method can be free lien leadership style where employees are given full freedom and authority to take the decisions and the superior interferes only when he feels the need for it.
• Under free lien style, the employees will not feel pressure to work and give innovative ideas all the time.
