Community service involvement provides the opportunity to become a contributing member of their community. Performing the service not only has benefit for society but also has a positive impact on the individual as well. The act of service or volunteerism enables students to acquire life skills and knowledge. It is about making a difference. I helped raise funds for an old age home. For this I had to meet a range of people, talk to them about the cause and convince them to donate money for the help of the elderly population. I was able to raise a good amount. My sister also helped me in this activity. She was very instrumental in the cause. She provided me with all her friends and families and went with me to convince them to pay for the cause. I learned that it is very difficult to ask people for their hard earned money but when they feel for the cause nearly everyone is ready to pay as per their pocket allows them to pay. Earlier, I was a very introvert person but this activity helped me to come out of my shell. Now I am a little more confident person. Moreover, I was able to help a sizeable number of elderly to meet their needs.This exercise brought an immense level of satisfaction for me. I will try to do more community service in future and be more selfless in my day to day living.
