Give an example from your personal experience of how differences in tasks, personal background, and training lead to conflict among groups. How might task interdependence have influenced that conflict?
Answer:
A conflict is always there in the team when it comes to data
integration. One such event occured when the lady from IT
integration suggested that a change should be made in the model for
adaptability. The IT guy didn't want to change the model prepared
because he belived that he, being an engineer, knows more than lady
who is a Master in Computer Applications and also that due to her
lesser years of experience, she isn't able to do her work properly
and make the tweaks to adjust to what he has prepared. The data
science guy wanted the data flow to be smooth and support the
outpiut system. Also he wanted to get the job done urgently because
he doesn't want to spend the night verifying the data, because he
prefers to work from 9 till 5 and doesn't want to extend his
working hours beyond this. The model needs to be presented to the
customer the very next day.
All these people are excellent in their work but when it comes to
working in a group to accomplish a task end to end, either their
personal agenda comes in picture or their motive to present
themselves as the head of the team and getting the things done
according to their own wish, becomes dominant. Of the work these
people are cordial colleagues.
Don't forget to rate it.
Thanks.
