Discuss the changing role of managers.
With the passage of time, the roles of the manager need to change in order to successfully be able to compete in the current market. These roles include:-
1. Change in the needs of the consumers and the trends.
The customer trends are ever changing and so is their need to obtain better services and products for an even better price as time passes and the manager needs to be able to deal with the situation that arises due to that reason. This problem includes things such as increasing competition., efficient supply chain and management practices, effective decision-making skills etc.
2. Change in technology.
Technology is ever changing. It is evident that the manager needs to change with the change in technology in order to essentially be able to do the required tasks which arise due to such practices. In order to make use of the benefits of new and improved technology managers need to change.
3. Change in the outlook of the employees.
Employees want a say in the decision making processes of the company and the trends have been increasingly changing from compliance to a more subtle management style of democracy. The manager needs to be able to take this into account and change the practices.
4. Change in managerial requirements.
The manager now needs to be able to not only manage the businesses end of all the processes but become efficient in recognizing other problems such as supply chain management, employee benefit and training, reform policies, empowerment, delegation and essentially creating synergy in the workforce.
