Recreation: It is an activity which is done when we are not working. This done to reduce the stress that accumulates in our daily life due to increased work pressure, health issues and other factors. Recreational activities help a person to be wholesome and healthy again. These activities may include pursuing a hobby, going for a holiday or spending time with family.

Importance: The post-industrial revolution society is very complex as compared to their ancestors. The life today has induced high levels of stress due to high-pressure work targets, less financial stabilities, and health factors. The word stress has deeply ingrained itself into our lives today. As a result, many individuals resort to recreational activities to reduce the stress and be healthy in the longer run. It creates a balance between the work and personal life.

Factors affecting an individual's decision to participate in recreational activities

1. Stress: The increased level of corporate life in today's scenario gives rise to recreational hubs to cater the market. People go for these activities so that they can relax and get energized for their work life.

2. No time for hobbies: As compared to previous times, people who like to pursue their hobbies are not able to do so as they have no time because of the busy life of metros. They seek recreational places so that can indulge in these activities and start pursuing their interest.

3. Less time for family: The increased working hours lead to less time for family. So the recreational activities also let a person spend quality time with their family members and lead a happy family life.

4. Health issues: People with obesity and other health issues which have originated due to the busy life of metros where the people have less time to go for the gym have also led them to choose a recreational activity for them like playing badminton. These activities help them to become healthy.

5. Holidays: To spend a good holiday time with family and friends, recreational places are a good option. They offer weekend-long programs s that people can visit there and spend relaxation time.
