"Making the Data Work for You" Please respond to the following: As you discovered in this week's Strayer Story, clothing designer and fashion entrepreneur Deidre Jefferies uses spreadsheet tools daily to organize and analyze data sets in all areas of her business. Share with your instructor and peers your thoughts on the following: 1. Describe one (1) task you could begin working on using Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets (in your current job, in this class or another Strayer course, or in your personal life). Be sure to describe this task in your own words. Note: Click here for a resource to get you started. 2. Explain how you would use the tool to organize and analyze data for your selected task. Once you have posted your response, respond to at least one of your peers and share your thoughts on their ideas for using spreadsheet software in a new way.
1) Excel / spreadsheet helps us in manifold ways. I am placement consultant. I need many sheets related to various job profiles in excel format from colleges , other agencies , employers etc.
For example:
I used to collect data of college students in the following format.
Name
Gaurdian name
Date of birth
Home town
Contact no.
Educational details
Achievements if any
Experience
Post applied
Above points are headed in excel format and same list of students will be sent to corporate employers . Even , HR of the company makes an excel sheet of shortlisted candidates and revert to me. So , excel helps us a lot in our recruitment and selection .
2) Once , we obtain a list of candidates in excel sheet. Then, we might analyse various types of requirements. For example :
A company HR might ask for candidates from California states. Then , we use sorting and send the same to HR manager.
By using statistical tools like percentage , graphical tools , bar diagram , pie charts etc. We make various analysis for our successful recruiting efforts.
